Christmas for the Troops: Dayton American Legion Post is once again collecting items to package up and send to U. S. Troops overseas. The American Legion will be holding a Christmas card signing and donations collection tomorrow from 8 a.m. to noon at four locations: Walmart in Liberty; Thrif-Tee Food Center in Dayton; plus Brookshire Brothers in both Liberty and Dayton. Donations U.S. Military personnel need include cookies, canned fruit, coffee, creamer, cheese and cracker snacks as well as other non-perishable food items. Also donate hygiene items like disposable razors, nail files, combs and brushes, toothpaste, tooth brushes, liquid hand sanitizer and baby wipes. Other items the troops overseas need are pens and mechanical pencils, flash drives for laptops, puzzle books, stationary and envelopes. For more information, call Jerry at 936-402-0741.

Time Change: Daylight Savings Time comes to an end early Sunday, and clocks should be set back 1 hour. Radio-controlled atomic watches and clocks probably will adjust automatically. The time should also automatically update on computers and cell phones. Other clocks and watches will need to be changed manually. Remember the old adage - fall back in the fall, spring forward in the spring. So, set clocks back one hour for a return to Standard Time Sunday at 2 a.m. to manually make the change. Better yet, just set your clocks back one hour before going to bed Saturday night. Also, experts agree it’s a good time to change batteries in smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.

Listen live at kshn.com – just click on your team’s logo at the bottom of our homepage. You can also hear the Liberty-Dayton games on FM 99.9 with our split-channel sports feature. Panther fans should turn their stereo balance control to the left while Dayton supporters can listen on the right side.
