Explosion: A loud explosion rattled windows in downtown Liberty Monday morning. It turned out to be related to a controlled burn behind Shoppa’s John Deere. An employee of Shoppa’s had received a burn permit from Liberty Fire Department to get rid of some pallets. When he lit the pile, the accelerant had congregated to an area and exploded. No one was injured and nothing was damaged, but it did cause a loud boom heard blocks away.

Social Security Online: Too often, those eligible for some type of Social Security benefits do not receive them because they do not know they should apply. Andy Hardwick with the Houston Social Security office said there is solid, useful information for all types of benefits available from Social Security online. In addition to the benefits calculator feature that helps people determine benefit amounts, there is also a benefits planner. It provides information on what benefits a person could be eligible for and under what circumstances they should apply. Anytime you have questions about Social Security, link to their website from kshn.com. You can also call Social Security in Beaumont at 866-613-2864 or nationwide at 800-772-1213.
