Murder Trial: Testimony continues today in the trial of a North Liberty County man for the murder of a neighbor in June 2016. 28-year-old Melvin Adalberto Morales-Rivas is charged with the murder of Vicente Rodriguez, 45, allegedly due to a dispute over a weed eater. Morales-Rivas has been held on a $2 million bond and an immigration detainer since his arrest. Jury selection was Monday and testimony began Tuesday in the 253rd District Court of Judge Chap Cain.

TVE Fun Pass: TVE carnival fun passes are on sale for $85 each. Be aware, there is a limited number of passes available. The TVE Carnival Fun Pass allows the bearer admission into the gate during the Trinity Valley Exposition as well as unlimited rides at the very popular Talley Amusements Carnival. You can purchase fun passes at the TVE fairgrounds office, Cowboy Cleaners, Boot Barn and Modern Cleaners. This year’s TVE carnival starts Tuesday, Oct. 16, and runs through Saturday, Oct. 20. Gatorfest: It’s time - Texas Gatorfest gets under way tomorrow and continues through Sunday at Fort Anahuac Park. There are carnival rides, lots of food and merchandise vendors, karaoke, plus airboat rides in the marsh. There is also live music on two stages. As always, the Texas Alligator Roundup starts Saturday with hunters weighing in gators for a chance at $4,500 in prize money. Admission is $15 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under with those younger than 5 getting in free. Senior citizens and active military personnel are also $5. Festival parking is $10.
