Constable Arrest: Liberty Co. Pct. 1 Constable Justin Johnston has been arrested in Montgomery Co. on a Class B misdemeanor charge of Harassment. He is accused of using electronic communications with the intent to harass, annoy, alarm, abuse, torment or embarrass Steffani Erickson, said to be his ex fiancé. There are no allegations of physical abuse, only electronic harassment. Constable Johnston was arrested by the Texas DPS Thursday. Bail was set at $1,500. As a condition of his release from jail, he is prohibited from having contact with the alleged victim in this case. Nothing in the court documents preclude him from performing the duties of his elected office.

Federal Indictment: A 21-year-old Mexican national living in Liberty has been indicted by a federal grand jury. We reported Juan Carlos Saucedo-Meza was arrested August 25 in Lake Charles, Louisiana, after a woman reported she was kidnapped from Liberty. The unidentified woman was able to escape her captor at a gas station and call 9-1-1 for help. The victim also told police she had been sexually assaulted along the way. The U.S. Attorney’s Office in Beaumont reports Saucedo-Meza also faces charges of aggravated sexual assault and kidnapping in Jefferson County, aggravated kidnapping in Liberty County plus second degree kidnapping in Calcasieu Parrish, Louisiana.
