After returning to open session, Dayton council voted to accept the resignation and retirement of Police Chief John Headrick, effective immediately. John Headrick is a 27-year veteran of the Dayton Police Department and served as chief for the past five years. In a Tuesday press release, the city thanked Chief Headrick for his service and wished him well. Mayor Lambright said he expects the city will contact the Texas First Group Interim Management Services Company to secure an interim police chief while First Group searches for a permanent replacement.
Liberty City Manager Search: Liberty City Council is set to meet next Wednesday, Aug. 29, at 6 p.m. to interview candidates for city manager. We’ve reported the departure of longtime City Manager Gary Broz resulted in the Liberty City Council bringing in Larry Shaw as interim city manager back in June. Mr. Shaw said the council will interview three applicants for the permanent city manager’s job. Those city manager candidates will be interviewed in closed-door, executive session. Following the interview process, council may take action to hire one of the candidates or may decide on a different course of action.
Meet the Panthers: The Liberty Panthers and Hardin Hornets scrimmage tomorrow in Memorial Stadium.
