Missing Police Officer: A Baytown police officer has been missing since last Thursday, and Chambers County Sheriff Brian Hawthorne is asking for the public’s help with this missing person’s case. Sheriff Hawthorne said Baytown Police Officer John Stewart Beasley has been missing since approximately 3:30 p.m. last Thursday, August 2, when he apparently walked away from his residence in the 1800 block of Parker Place Drive in the Plantation Subdivision in the Cove area. Anyone with information concerning the whereabouts of John Beasley, a 23-year veteran of the Baytown Police Department, is asked to call the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office at 409-267-2500 or Chambers County CrimeStoppers at 844-860-8477.
DISD Substitute Teachers: The Dayton school district is currently recruiting new substitute teachers for the upcoming school year. Mary Ellen Conner is Dayton ISD’s executive director of personnel services. She said, on any given day depending on the time of year, there could be 10 or more substitute teachers filling in on each Dayton school campus. Babin Tonight: United States Congressman Brian Babin will participate in a question-and-answer time at the Liberty County Republican Party’s meeting today in the Hardin Community Center on County Road 2010 in Hardin. Refreshments will be served at 6:30 p.m. with the program beginning at 7 o’clock this evening. Everybody is welcome at that GOP gathering.
Democrat Meet and Greet: A Meet and Greet is set for this Saturday featuring Democrat candidates for federal, state and county offices in the November General Election. Liberty County Democrat Party Chair Michael Mark said the public is invited out this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Samuel Wiley Park, 1140 Martin Luther King Drive in Cleveland. It’s a chance to meet these Democrat candidates, ask them questions, and discuss the concerns of rural Texans. Organizers say hot dogs will be served, and everyone is welcome.
