CISD Staffing: The massive increase in student numbers at the Cleveland school district also means a corresponding increase in staffing. CISD Superintendent Dr. Darrell Myers said his district is not only the largest school district in Liberty County but also the largest employer of any kind countywide. With at least 500 more students expected for the 2018-19 school year, the district is hiring for a variety of positions to meet needs. For more information on jobs available at the rapidly growing Cleveland Independent School District, go online to Once on the website, look under the department tab for human resources. You can also access Cleveland ISD’s website from by clicking on schools under local information.
Texas Football Predictions: The Liberty Panthers and Dayton Broncos football teams are both expected to face some tough district competition this year, with two teams from each of their respective districts ranked in the state preseason Top 10. That assessment is according to a well-known magazine called Dave Campbell’s Texas Football. The storied periodical projects the Liberty Panthers will advance to post-season as the third place team in District 12-4A. On the other hand, the prognosticators say the Dayton Broncos will just miss out on playoff action this year as the fifth place team in District 21-5A. Dave Campbell’s Texas Football magazine is now on newsstands. KSHN will have more details from the magazine’s roundup of those teams as well as other schools in Liberty and Chambers counties in coming newscasts.
VFW Fundraiser: The community is invited to support local veterans at a benefit fundraiser this Saturday at the VFW on Main Street in Liberty. The Nolan D. They will have an auction, a 50/50 pot and lotto hats. There will also be music for the evening. If you would like to make a donation, call 936-346-2490.
