Home Invasion Armed Robbery: Liberty police are asking for the public’s help finding two suspects involved in an armed robbery and home invasion early yesterday morning at the Park Place Apartments on Cook Road. Liberty Police Chief Thomas Claunch said two males assaulted three females using a semi-automatic pistol and an expandable baton to beat the victims. He reports one of the males is said to be white and the other black. Both were reportedly wearing dark-colored hoodies. Anyone with information is asked to call Liberty police at 936-336-5666.

Liberty Annexation: Liberty City Council met Tuesday night to discuss the final phase in the city’s long series of property annexations of land to the south and east along the Trinity River. Two years ago, Liberty council announced their ultimate goal was to bring a large portion of the Moss Bluff Gas Storage Facility into the city limits. After all that time, the ownership of the gas storage facility finally made contact with the city of Liberty on Monday. As reported, when finished, Phase 9 is the annexation of .71 square miles and most of the gas storage facilities’ property. The owners of most of that land are now proposing Industrial Development Agreements where the gas storage companies pay the city of Liberty not to annex them.
Blood Drive: LifeShare Blood Center will hold a special blood drive tomorrow at the Liberty Fire Department on Lakeland Drive. The Cuffs and Hoses Blood Drive will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. It’s a chance for the public to show support for first-responders by giving blood in their honor. For more information, call Bridgette Easley-Ellis at 409-980-8245.
Obituaries: Tyron Roy Dever, 75, of Dayton. Service is noon today in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church (Wells FS).
