Dayton TIRZ: The Dayton City Council met recently and approved creation of a Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone or TIRZ. Dayton City Manager Theo Melancon said that reinvestment zone may be followed by creation of a second such zone in the near future. A TIRZ is an area earmarked for development that allows a portion or increment of the property tax collected inside the zone itself to be used to reimburse developers who make infrastructure improvements within the boundaries of the zone. Dayton City Manager Theo Melancon said the planned second Dayton TIRZ would be created in the downtown Dayton area as a funding mechanism for the city’s downtown revitalization plan.
Flag Box: For those with American or state flags that have met their end, American Flag etiquette have specific ways to properly dispose of them. To that end, there are two flag collection boxes, one in Hardin on Hwy 146 at FM 834 at the FLNB Hardin Financial Center, and now a new one in Dayton on Hwy 90 at the beautiful new rest stop next to Jack-in-the-Box. Flags dropped off at these locations will be disposed of properly in a special burning ceremony.

You can access the online auction from the LISD home page. Link there easily from
