Commissioners Court: Liberty County Commissioners unanimously approved a targeted 10% pay hike at Tuesday’s meeting. That salary increase is for county commissioners, the county judge and the county attorney. Liberty County Judge Jay Knight said this action comes after two consecutive years when these elected officials did not receive any salary increase. Liberty County Commissioners also voted unanimously to up the annual vehicle allowance by 26% for the Liberty County sheriff, elected constables, county commissioners and the county judge. This is up from last year’s budget of $15,840 to the new $20,000 vehicle allowance. Judge Knight said the many miles that these elected officials put on their personal vehicles and the increase in gas prices during the past year were contributing factors to the vehicle allowance increase.
