Broz Leaving Liberty: A major change at Liberty City Hall - it was late in 2009 when Gary Broz came onboard with the City of Liberty as city manager. Now, a little shy of nine years later, his last day with Liberty will be June 15. The veteran city administrator said first he will be retiring. Then he’s going back to work at the smaller town of Eagle Lake, Texas. That’s about 15 minutes from the retirement home he and his wife, Georgia, purchased in Columbus about two years ago.

DCDC Grant: Dayton City Council approved a Dayton Community Development Corporation grant for Dayton Trading on Tuesday. The $30,000 grant had already received initial approval from the DCDC board to go to business owner Larry Lambright. It’s a Business Improvement and Growth or what is referred to as a BIG grant. DCDC officials said the money will be used by Larry Lambright to clean up and beautify the property just west of Dayton Trading on U.S. 90. The business will use the property to expand after tearing down the unsightly abandoned tire shop next door. As Dayton Mayor Jeff Lambright is the son of Dayton Trading owner Larry Lambright, the mayor recused himself from all discussions and action. DCDC and Dayton City Council agreed that Dayton Trading is not only a locally owned business but it also serves as an unofficial “town entrance” for traffic entering Dayton from the east on Hwy. 90 and sets a tone for the impression visitors get of the city.
