LCSO Seeks Tips: The Liberty County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help finding three suspects thought to be involved in the felony theft of a tractor and other equipment. On Sunday evening, sheriff’s dispatch received a “911” call from a business owner of a dirt and dozer company reporting that he was following his stolen tractor pulling a co-worker’s stolen trailer. At the time, the vehicles were near the Winter Valley Subdivision in the vicinity of the company’s worksite off FM 1008 in south Liberty County. When confronted by the owner, the suspect riding the stolen tractor jumped off and ran into the woods. Three white males driving a black four-door Ford “Escape” had been seen earlier in the day parked near the worksite. The man who abandoned the tractor is described as a white male of slight build weighing 150 to 160 pounds. He is said to be 5’8” to 5’10” tall. That suspect was wearing a dirty pullover gray “hoodie” and dirty blue jeans. Anyone with info is asked to call the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office at 936-336-4500 or Multi-County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-392-7867.
Juvenile Escapees Captured: Two juveniles who escaped from the Giddings State School on Saturday were captured Sunday night in nearby New Caney. The Giddings State School is a Texas Youth Commission high-restriction correction facility between Houston and Austin that houses juveniles adjudicated there by the courts. The pair reportedly escaped from that TYC facility Saturday night and then stole an unlocked car. A Montgomery County resident spotted the teens in her backyard Sunday evening. DPS officials responded to the area and captured the escapees a short time later. One is identified as 16-year-old Brice Ryan Karalis with a Cleveland address. The other is Bryan Emando Villanueva, also 16, from the Spring area.
BBQ & Car Show: There’s still time to signup for this Saturday’s Shane Detwiler BBQ Cook-off and Car Show. Festivities start at 9 a.m. in the parking lot at Liberty City Hall. Winners of the car, jeep and truck categories will be announced at noon with BBQ results set for 3. BBQ plates and raffle tickets will be for sale. For info, call Cheryl Railsback at 832-556-9760.
