Dayton Councilman Censured: Dayton City Council voted to censure councilman Josh Townsend during Monday night’s meeting. In a prepared statement, a Dayton council release says Mr. Townsend was being censured for inappropriate behavior. We reported back in late January that the City of Dayton issued an earlier prepared statement saying city officials had launched an investigation into an employee complaint alleging both sexual harassment and the presence of a hostile work environment there. Although, Monday night’s action did no explicitly mention what kind of “inappropriate behavior” council member Josh Townsend had been accused of, it appears he was the target of that earlier employee complaint.

Medicare Cards: Medicare is moving to correct a longstanding problem with that agency’s participant identification cards. Since thieves can use a person’s Social Security number to steal their identity, experts advise keeping those cards in a safe place. However, people are generally asked to carry their Medicare cards with them. Problem is Medicare cards also have either the cardholder’s Social Security number or their spouse’s number. Now, Medicare will no longer put Social Security numbers on Medicare ID cards.1` Medicare recipients will begin receiving new ID cards in the mail this month, but here in Texas, officials say those new cards probably won’t start arriving until June.
