Teacher Arrested: A Dayton ISD Richter Elementary School teacher and Boy Scouts leader is facing child pornography charges after a search warrant was served on his Harris County home and at the Dayton school campus. The Harris County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office reports 31-year-old Joshua Janecka has been jailed on five counts of Possession of Child Pornography and one count of Promotion of Child Pornography. The arrest followed a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. In a press statement, the Dayton school district said they have been notified of the arrest and are fully cooperating with the investigation. DISD officials report Joshua Janecka has been placed on administrative leave while the investigation continues.
Domestic Argument Death: A Liberty County man is dead after he was reportedly stabbed by his wife during a domestic argument. According to Liberty County Sheriff’s Captain Ken Defoor, 45-year-old Aaron Christopher Collins died Wednesday evening at a home on C.R. 2600 north of Moss Hill. Investigators say he was killed by his wife, 51-year-old Andrea Dawn Beck, who called 911 and reported the stabbing. She claimed that Collins began beating her, and in an effort to defend herself, Beck told investigators she ran to the kitchen and secured a knife. Andrea Beck also says that when her husband continued the assault, she stabbed him in the upper chest. The case is being referred to a Liberty County Grand Jury for review, and no charges have been filed at this time.
Road Rage Shooting: A 51-year-old Woodville man has been arrested following a road rage incident on U.S. 59. Cleveland Police Captain Scott Felts said the incident began around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in the area of U.S. 59 and S.H. 105. He said a maroon pick-up allegedly changed lanes and almost struck a silver truck, forcing it off the roadway. Cleveland police say the driver of that silver truck then fired three rounds from a semi-automatic handgun into the driver’s side of the maroon pick-up. Douglas Cameron Thompson of Woodville was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
Obituaries: Ouida LaVonne Cauthorn, 90, of Liberty. Service 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Liberty Church of Christ (AFS).
