TIRZ Meeting: Dayton City Council has been moving ahead with more planning for growth - both residential and commercial - expected in the near future. Part of that planning includes a second joint meeting with Liberty County Commissioners Court to discuss creating what is a called a Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone or TIRZ. Dayton City Manager Theo Melancon said these meetings focus on creating incentives for industrial development - specifically on Hwy 146 South, but it is important not to neglect retail and residential prospects. The next joint meeting is Thursday at 6 p.m. in the Dayton Community Center, 801 South Cleveland Street. The public is welcome.
Taste of TVE: The Trinity Valley Exposition is hosting a spring event called Taste of TVE this Saturday from 6 p.m. to midnight at the fairgrounds on FM 563. The festivities include live music by the Rocky King Band. Courville’s Catering will offer different tasting stations. They will have live and silent auctions along with a money booth. Also part of the big night will be the annual presentation of the Western Heritage Award. Tickets are $100 each or $800 for a reserved table seating 8 people. Trail Ride: The congregation of Line Camp Cowboy Church is inviting the community to their second Spring Trail Ride a week from this Saturday – that’s April 14. Everyone is invited to bring their horse and participate in this free ride. In addition, there will be hay wagons for non-riders. Everyone is invited to meet by 10:30 that morning at the future permanent home of the church – the address is 711 Highway 90 in Devers. Riders will lineup at 10:45 for an 11 a.m. start. All horses must have a negative coggins test. After the 10-mile ride, the Line Camp Cowboy Church Chuck Wagon Team will serve dinner. It’s all free to one and all, courtesy of the members of Line Camp Cowboy Church.
Shred It: Mark you calendars - the City of Liberty’s next free document shredding and electronics recycling event is set for Saturday, May 12, starting at 9 a.m. at the City Hall parking lot. As always, the Shredding and Electronics Recycling Event is free to anyone, not just city of Liberty residents.
