Dayton Bonds: Dayton City Council plans to sell bonds later this year to finance infrastructure improvements now under development. While the total dollar amount of the sale of what are called “revenue anticipation notes” has not yet been set, Dayton council approved the purchase of a long list of needed equipment for various city departments. That was at their March 19 meeting. The list includes items like slope mowers, tractors and heavy duty utility trailers. The total estimated cost of the equipment that city departments need is about $1.09 million. Dayton City Finance Director Rudy Zepeda said the anticipated municipal bond sale will cover that cost as well as construction of a temporary water test well on S.H. 146 for which Dayton council approved the engineering phase back in January. Mr. Zepeda said it is expected the amount of the bond sale will also cover the purchase of five new patrol vehicles and one animal control truck - all for the Dayton Police Department. An actual dollar amount for the bond sale will be known when Dayton City Council meets April 19.
Administrative Professionals Luncheon: Mark your calendars - the Liberty-Dayton Area of Chamber of Commerce’s popular Administrative Professionals Luncheon is set for Wednesday, April 25, in the Liberty Center at City Hall. It will be catered once again by Chef Amber Lawson of Magnolia Place Health Care. Area businesses and organizations donate gifts to be given away to the special guests. In the past, most if not all of the honorees have received a gift. Reservations are required, and tickets are $15 each. This is always a full-house event, so make reservations or donate a gift by calling the Chamber office in Liberty at 936-336-5736 or in Dayton at 257-8926.
