Liberty Jubilee: The 33rd Annual Liberty Jubilee is coming up on Friday and Saturday, March 23rd and 24th, in downtown Liberty. The yearly family fun festival provides lots of food, live entertainment, children’s activities and rides, a fun run, BBQ cook-off, photo contest, plus arts and crafts galore. That Friday night’s street dance features both Southern Breeze and West of the Trinity Band. Admission to the Jubilee grounds is free both days. For information, call Liberty City Hall at 936-336-3684 or link to the city’s website from our homepage at
Blood Drive: The City of Liberty is holding a blood drive in honor of Trooper Chad Blackburn this Friday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Liberty Center at City Hall. Trooper Blackburn was critically injured while on duty when his patrol vehicle was struck by an alleged drunken driver on Labor Day morning 2016. While in Memorial Hermann Hospital following that accident, Blackburn received multiple blood transfusions. The trooper and his family want to give other patients the same support he received and encourage everyone to give the gift of life through blood donation. For information or to schedule an appointment, call April at Liberty City Hall - 936-336-3684.
Freedom Ride: The Liberty Freedom Ride, benefiting the Liberty ISD Education Foundation, is set for Saturday, April 7. There are five competitive distances with routes covering 20, 33, 44, 61 and 79 miles. There also will be a two-mile social ride. All rides will start at 8 a.m. at Liberty City Hall. Pre-registration is $35, but on the day of the event it’s $40. Proceeds benefit students of the Liberty school district through the Liberty ISD Education Foundation. To sign up for the April 7 fund-raising event, click on the Liberty Freedom Ride link at the top of our homepage at For more information or to become a sponsor, call Bruce Wright at 936-641-0367.
