District 18: Republican District #18 State Representative Ernest Bailes was challenged by Emily Kebideaux Cook for a second term in Tuesday’s GOP Primary voting. Texas House District #18 includes Liberty, Walker and San Jacinto Counties. Unofficially, combined results show Ernest Bailes with 11,185 votes and Emily Cook with 7,608 votes. Ernest Bailes –the apparent victor -will be facing Democrat Fred Lemond in November.
District 36: Liberty County is part of U. S. Congressional District #36. Incumbent Republican Brian Babin had no primary election challengers but there were two Democrats running for that seat, Jon Powell and Dayna Steele. District #36 includes all of Liberty, Chambers, Jasper, Newton, Orange, Polk and Tyler Counties plus portions of Harris County. Combined unofficial vote totals have Dayna Steele with 9848 votes and Jon Powell with 3827 votes. So, when canvassed, it appears Dayna Steele will face Republican Brian Babin in November.
Softball: All Nine Sports will broadcast the Dayton Lady Broncos softball game against the Humble Lady Wildcats tomorrow evening starting at 6:15.
Combined: Liberty Attorney Mark Beausoleil challenged longtime Incumbent Chap Cain for the office of 253rd District Court Judge. The District includes Chambers County so voters there also cast ballots in that race. Total unofficial results in both Liberty County and Chambers County show Chap Cain with 8266 and Mark Beausoleil with 4483.
