Hospital Parking Lots: The Liberty Dayton Regional Medical Center has repaved and restriped all parking lots. Yesterday, some 50 members of the community met for a ribbon cutting and official opening of the improved lots. Liberty Dayton Regional Medical Center Administrator and CEO Matt Thornton thanked those in the community who helped make the project possible, including Angel Brothers Construction, Bill Sjolander, Eddie Gray, the City of Liberty and the hospital district.
Boots & Bullets: The Boots and Bullets fundraiser is this Saturday benefiting the Dayton Volunteer Fire Department. A chili and gumbo cook-off gets under way at 7 a.m. and continues till noon. Then, Saturday evening the dance begins at 6 p.m. and goes till midnight. The night’s entertainment features both Jason West and the West of the Trinity Band as well as the Southern Breeze Band. Herd Evaluation Seminar: The Liberty County Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service has rescheduled its Herd Bull Evaluation and Selection Seminar. The new date is Tuesday, January 30, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the GH White Ranch Headquarters in Tarkington. Experts will be performing live bull evaluations for breeding potential and fertility. Those planning to attend are asked to call ahead at 936-334-3230.
Chamber Banquet: Tickets are available for the 42nd Annual Liberty Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce Awards Banquet. The banquet is Tuesday, February 27, at 6:30 p.m. in the Dayton Community Center. Tickets are $35 for the evening of good food, entertainment and the announcement of both Liberty and Dayton Citizens of the Year. Guest speaker is Emmy winning journalist and news anchor for ABC 13 TV in Houston Art Rascon. A table for ten is $350.
