Watch out for Crime: Cases of theft and burglary may increase during the holidays, but crooks continue to operate year round. Dayton Police Chief John Headrick said it pays to develop some simple habits, such as keeping your car and home locked. Chief Headrick said to keep an eye out for anyone who does not seem to belong in your neighborhood adding investigation has found the people who commit these types of crimes are pretty evenly split between local residents and out of town visitors.
Dayton Enhancement Committee: The Dayton Enhancement Committee has been working hard to improve the outward appearance of the City of Dayton. From awards for those homes and businesses who have taken their landscaping a step above, to improving areas for public use. Enhancement Committee Chair Caroline Wadzeck said the area known as the Crossroads, next to Jack in the Box, will have signage about the history of Dayton as well as bench seating and landscaping to welcome folks into that part of town. Wreck: A Hull man, Frank Dowdell, was transported by air ambulance to a Houston hospital early Saturday morning following a single car rollover accident on FM 1011 at FM 834 west of Hardin. Liberty County Sheriff’s dispatch received a report of that accident around 6:50 Saturday morning. However, deputies learned the crash occurred around 11 Friday night. It was Saturday morning that a passerby spotted the overturned vehicle and called for help. First-responders freed Frank Dowdell from his vehicle, and he was then taken by Life Flight air ambulance to Memorial Hermann Hospital for treatment.
Update: Here’s an update on a former Liberty resident charged in Harris County with two murders. Steven Alexander Hobbs, who was living in Crosby at the time of his arrest in October 2011, is set for trial on January 25th in the 351st District Court of Judge George Powell of Harris County.
