March Primary: Filing ended yesterday for the March 6th Republican and Democrat Primary Elections. There is now a contested GOP race for 253rd District Court judge between longtime incumbent Chap Cain and challenger Mark Beausoleil. In the Republican primary for Dist. 18 state rep, incumbent Ernest Bailes of Coldspring is now facing newcomer Emily Kebodeaux Cook of Liberty. The winner takes on Democrat Fred Lemond of Raywood in the Nov. 6, 2018, General Election. Kenny Brand has filed to run in the GOP Primary for Precinct #2 Liberty County Commissioner against Incumbent Greg Arthur. Also, Precinct #4 JP Larry Wilburn is opposed in the GOP Primary by David Ripkowski.
3 Trials: Three juries were selected yesterday, two for criminal trials in the 75th District Court of Judge Mark Morefield and another for a drug trial in the 253rd District Court of Judge Chap Cain. Starting with Judge Cain’s courtroom, 64-year-old Alfred Lynn Gallander of Liberty is accused of Possession of a Controlled Substance. Turning to the 75th District Court, jury selection was also Monday in the trial of 30-year-old Steven Erick Hester of Porter, charged with Manufacture and Delivery of a Controlled Substance, 4 grams or more but less than 200 grams. Also in the 75th District Court, jury selection was Monday in the trial of 31-year-old Justin Allen McMillen of Liberty County, accused of Assault Family Violence by Impeding Breath or Circulation.
Find Santa: It’s time to Find Santa. One of the fun things KSHN Radio does each year is to play the “Find Santa” game. It gives our listeners a chance to win cash prizes. When all is done, we give away $1,000 in Christmas cash. Ten times a day we ask our listeners to call KSHN. When the correct numbered caller is identified, they have a chance to guess where Santa is shopping that hour. If the person guesses correctly, they win the jackpot. Those jackpots start at $10 and then $10 more is put in the jackpot for each game. Find Santa started yesterday morning on FM 99.9 and continues weekdays until Friday, December 22.
