Telemarketing Warning: A telemarketing company under investigation in multiple states for making fraudulent claims to consumers is reported to be contacting Liberty County residents. Totes to Go is one of at least 20 different names used by a company called Universal Ad Com, a business with a long history of customer complaints in multiple states for what the Better Business Bureau calls “questionable sales practices”. Ruth Stetson at the Tarkington Community Library said area businesses were being targeted by Universal Ad Com – under the name Totes to Go - by callers attempting to sell them specialty items. She said the telemarketer is saying a portion of the proceeds from these sales benefit the Tarkington library. She assured KSHN that claim is not true. So if a company calling itself Totes to Go makes contact to sell various holiday themed items, be wary. Be especially careful if they claim to be working with local entities such as libraries or chambers of commerce.
