Jailed Again: A man who had been free on bond following a series of arrests for Indecent Exposure is back behind bars. We reported on last week’s arrest of Gilbert Charles Trahan III by Liberty police for alleged Indecent Exposure. The 41-year-old man was arrested at the Stripes Store on the corner of Main Street and the 146 Bypass in Liberty. A clerk told police Trahan had exposed and fondled himself in front of her. Liberty police arrested Trahan and booked him into the Liberty County Jail. This was reportedly his third arrest for Indecent Exposure in Liberty. Gilbert Trahan III was freed that same day on a $1,500 bond. Liberty police say Trahan was arrested again in Houston on Monday for outstanding warrants. At last report, Gilbert Charles Trahan III is back in the Liberty County Jail. His bond for Indecent Exposure was revoked over this latest arrest, and he is also being held for some outstanding warrants.
Cooking Safety: Thanksgiving is tomorrow, and experts remind us about the basics of food safety. Traditional Thanksgiving meals involve cooking a large quantity of food and leaving plenty of leftovers for later. Liberty County Texas Agri-Life Extension Agent Alexis Cordova said the internal temperature of turkey should be at least 165 degrees while uncooked hams must be cooked to at least 145 degrees to destroy harmful bacteria. She said leftovers require as much attention to safety as cooking the big holiday feast to begin with. She said leftovers should be refrigerated within two hours of serving. Reheating leftovers should also be done with a meat thermometer since cooking to the correct temperature is essential in preventing contamination.
Free Thanksgiving Feasts: Several area churches are hosting free Thanksgiving meals for the community tomorrow. Trinity Baptist Church, on FM 1960 across from Thrif-tee Food Center in Dayton, invites everyone to their free communitywide Thanksgiving dinner from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Also serving free meals again this year are members of St. Miles Missionary Baptist Church on Highway 90, just east of the traffic light in Ames. That starts at 11 a.m. and goes until 3 p.m. tomorrow. Another free Thanksgiving Dinner is being hosted by Valley Community Bible Church on North San Jacinto Street in Liberty. It’s from 10 a.m. to noon tomorrow. The public is welcome at each of those free Thanksgiving feasts.
