Shooting: Liberty police are investigating a Saturday afternoon shooting, and they are asking for the public’s help finding the person or persons responsible for shooting a Liberty resident multiple times. At this point in their investigation, police are not identifying the 29-year-old male victim who was transported to a Houston hospital by air ambulance with what are thought to be non life-threatening injuries. Police say the shooting occurred Saturday at the corner of Hawthorne and Edgewood streets. However, the victim was able to drive away. Police located him a short time later inside his vehicle at Bowie Street and Grand Avenue. Reportedly the shooting victim has been uncooperative with police and refuses to identify the shooter. Anyone with information on Saturday’s shooting is asked to call the Liberty Police Department at 936-336-5666.
Local Bull Rider on Team USA: A Liberty bull rider is part of the team that won the inaugural Professional Bull Riders’ Global Cup over the weekend. Cole Melancon of Liberty is a member of Team USA. The PBR Global Cup format pits country against country as qualifying bull riders compete for national pride. The inaugural PBR Global Cup was held over the weekend in Edmonton, Canada. Team USA won followed by Brazil in second place with host team Canada claiming third.
Lions Radio Auction: The Annual Dayton Noon Lions Club Radio Auction is this Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. and then again Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon on KSHN FM 99.9. The Dayton Noon Lions Club’s biggest annual fundraiser, the money raised benefits the group’s many local charities. Lions will describe a variety of merchandise and services on air.
