LHS to Honor Veterans: Liberty High School students and staff will honor military veterans in our community this Friday for Veteran’s Day with breakfast and a special program. All current and former service men and women plus a guest are invited to breakfast at 7:30 a.m. Friday hosted by the LHS Interact Club. That is followed by a program in their honor at the LHS gym at 8:30. Keynote speaker is Dave Dillard who lives near Livingston. He’s an Army veteran with two combat tours in Vietnam. GRACE Initiative: It has been roughly one year since a group of volunteers restarted the South Liberty County Meals on Wheels program under the name GRACE Initiative. Since that beginning with monetary gifts from local citizens, the program has secured additional government funding. GRACE Initiative provides hot, nutritious meals prepared at the Liberty Middle School Cafeteria. Then, volunteers deliver meals to elderly homebound people who cannot prepare meals for themselves. Closings: The Liberty County Courthouse and all municipal offices in Liberty, Dayton and Cleveland will be closed Friday in observance of Veterans Day. Garbage service in each of those cities will run as scheduled Friday. Banks and post offices will be open for regular hours on Friday, but will be closed on Saturday, November 11 – the actual Veterans Day Holiday.

Elliott Recognized: Investigator Darrell Elliott has been honored as the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office Employee of the Month. He is a 21-year veteran of the department and now has 37 years of law enforcement experience. Inv. Elliott is assigned as a Special Investigator on Crimes Against Children.
