FEMA Deadline Extended: The Federal Emergency Management Agency has once again extended the deadline for those who suffered damages from Hurricane Harvey. The deadline to register for disaster assistance is now Nov. 30. To sign up, go online at or call 800-621-3362. You also visit the FEMA Disaster Recovery Center at the Dayton Community Center, 801 South Cleveland Street in Dayton. It’s open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sundays from noon to 5 p.m. until further notice.
Election Day: Today is Election Day for the November 7 Texas Constitutional Amendment Election. There are seven proposed amendments on the ballot. Here in Liberty County, voting is from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. by consolidated precinct at seven locations across the county. Flags Half-Staff: President Donald Trump and Governor Greg Abbott have agreed it is fitting that U.S. and Texas flags should be lowered to half-staff in memory of those who lost their lives in the church shooting in Sutherland Springs. Flags should remain half-staff through sunset this Thursday.
Super Hero Fun Run: The Fourth Annual Super Hero Fun Run is this Saturday at Liberty Municipal Park. The annual event benefits Court Appointed Special Advocates of both Liberty and Chambers Counties. It’s a family friendly activity designed to raise awareness and funds for the fight against child abuse. The 5K and 10K races both begin at 8:30. The Kids K run or walk for children 7 years old and younger starts at 10:15 while the Kids K for those ages 8 to 10 is at 10:30 that morning. There is a costume contest for those who come dressed as their favorite superhero. You can pre-register online at or in person at BJ Ford and Clawson’s Printing.
Game Time Change: The Tarkington girls volleyball team plays Hardin-Jefferson today. The start time has been changed to 5:30 p.m. in the Lee College gymnasium in Baytown.
