Healthcare Enrollment: The open enrollment period to purchase health insurance under the Affordable Care Act is under way through Dec. 15. Best known as “Obamacare”, the Affordable Care Act offers uninsured or underinsured Americans the ability to enroll in healthcare coverage or to renew a plan they may already have. While the politics of the affordable healthcare act remain contentious, the nonprofit Cover Texas Now Coalition says Obamacare remains the law of the land. That means Texans who do not signup for health insurance or receive health insurance from another source by Dec. 15 may have to pay a fine. For info and help in finding the health insurance best suited to your healthcare needs and budget, get local assistance, go online to www.healthcare.gov or call 2-1-1 to be connected with a local enrollment center.
