Constitutional Amendment Election: Tomorrow is Election Day for the Nov. 7 Texas Constitutional Amendment Election. There are seven proposed amendments on the ballot. Healthcare Enrollment: The open enrollment period to purchase health insurance under the Affordable Care Act is under way through Dec. 15. Best known as “Obamacare”, the Affordable Care Act offers uninsured or underinsured Americans the ability to enroll in healthcare coverage or to renew a plan they may already have. While the politics of the affordable healthcare act remain contentious, the nonprofit Cover Texas Now Coalition says Obamacare remains the law of the land. That means Texans who do not signup for health insurance or receive health insurance from another source by Dec. 15 may have to pay a fine. Volleyball Playoffs: The Hardin, Barbers Hill and Tarkington girls volleyball teams have all advanced to the Regional Quarterfinal round of the playoffs. Barbers Hill faces Manvel today at 5:30 p.m. in the Phillips Field House in Pasadena. Tarkington plays Hardin-Jefferson tomorrow at 5:30 p.m. at Lee College in Baytown. Hardin is matched up against East Bernard tomorrow at 6:30 p.m. at Splendora High School.
Football: The Liberty Panthers football team fell to the number-one, state-ranked West Orange-Stark Mustangs 32-0 Friday night. As for Dayton, the Broncos ended their season with a 27-7 win over the Caney Creek Panthers. Anahuac topped Hardin 21-12. Hull-Daisetta rolled over Burkeville 64-0. It was Little Cypress Mauriceville knocking off Cleveland 32-27. Hitchcock bested East Chambers 44-24 while Orangefield squeaked past Hardin-Jefferson 13-12. Barbers Hill had the week off.
