Kits can be picked up during business hours at the extension office at 501 Palmer Avenue in Liberty or 295 White Memorial Park Drive in Anahuac. Each test kit comes with instructions on properly taking a water well sample and then returning it to the extension service office on Tuesday, Nov. 14, between 8 and 11 a.m. For information, call the office in Liberty County at 936-334-3230 or Chambers County at 409-374-2123.
****************************************************Time Change: Daylight Savings Time comes to an end early Sunday, and clocks need to be set back one hour. Radio-controlled atomic watches and clocks probably will adjust to the time-change automatically. The time should also automatically update on computers and cell-phones. Other clocks and watches will need to be changed manually. Remember the old adage - fall back in the fall, spring forward in the spring. So, set clocks back one hour for a return to Standard Time this coming Sunday at 2 a.m. to manually make the change. Better yet, just set your clocks back one hour before going to bed Saturday night.
Football: The Liberty Panthers football team improved to 7-1 overall with a 52-38 victory over Hardin-Jeffrerson on Friday, On Thursday, Kingwood Park knocked off the Dayton Broncos 26-7. Dayton is now 2-6 overall. In other action from over the weekend, Hitchcock shut out Hardin 60-0, and Hull-Daisetta blanked Sabine Pass 54-0. Barbers Hill topped New Caney 49-21. It was Navasota over Cleveland 24-0. Bellville dominated Tarkington 63-0. Hempstead downed Anahuac 44-12 while East Chambers beat La Marque 28-7.
