Man Sentenced for Assaulting Deputy: A 29-year-old Dayton man has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for Aggravated Assault on a Public Servant. We previously reported Frank Ellis Moss was stopped for a traffic violation back on November 30 of last year on State Highway 146 south of Dayton. At the time, the Liberty County Sheriff’s Department reported that, after being stopped, Moss sucker-punched one of their deputies, breaking his jaw and a tooth. A second deputy moved in to assist his fellow deputy. That effort lead to a knee injury to the second officer. A third deputy arrived and deployed a taser, bringing the attacker under control without further incident. Now we have learned that 29-year-old Frank Moss pleaded guilty to Aggravated Assault on a Public Servant back on 16th of this month in the 253rd District Court of Judge Chap Cain. The Dayton man was sentenced to 12 years in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice as part of that plea agreement.
