TVE Country Weekend: It’s TVE Country Weekend, and a full slate of activities is on tap. Tonight’s events at the fairgrounds include the barbecue cookoff, a wine tasting party, team roping and a 42 domino tournament. Then, tomorrow’s festivities get under way with the TVE 5K run – sign-ins begin at 7:15 a.m. with the race starting at 8 tomorrow morning on the east side of the courthouse. Then comes the historic Baby Parade tomorrow at 10 a.m. in downtown Liberty. For those who can’t be there, KSHN will broadcast the nation’s oldest continuously held Baby Parade. There are also lots of other Country Weekend festivities tomorrow at the TVE Fairgrounds. Tomorrow’s activities are capped off with the always popular concert dance starting at 8:30 p.m. featuring this year’s opening act JB and the Moonshine Band followed by headliner Parker McCollum. TVE E.B. Baker Award: Wednesday evening, the Trinity Valley Exposition Board of Directors named the recipient of one of the highest honors afforded to those involved. The annual honor given to the volunteer of the year is called the E.B. Baker Award. This year’s recipient is Alesha Dodson, a longtime volunteer in the livestock office.
Football: The Liberty, Hardin and Hull-Daisetta football teams all begin district action tonight. Liberty travels to Orangefield for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff. Dayton is on the road in Porter at 7 tonight. Hardin hosts La Marque at 7:30 while Hull-Daisetta is home versus Evadale starting at 7:30. Barbers Hill is also home taking on Splendora at 7 tonight. Those listening to Liberty and/or Dayton here on FM 99.9 – Panther fans should tune the stereo balance control all the way to the left while Dayton supporters can listen to the Broncos on the right speaker of their stereo radio.
