Report Damage to CAD: Texas county appraisal districts in the area devastated by Hurricane Harvey are asking property owners to report damage. Here in Liberty County, affected residents are urged to call the Central Appraisal District. The Texas Property Tax Code allows districts to conduct reappraisals of property in a disaster area for the 2018 tax cycle if the county’s taxing entities request it. Liberty County Deputy Chief Appraiser Jeff Lambright said the first step toward determining how future property appraisals will be affected is to notify the Liberty County CAD of your damages - large or small. Call the Liberty County Central Appraisal District with your name, location and type of damage to property. That number is 936-336-5722.
Damaged Homes: Baptist volunteers are helping Liberty County residents whose homes were damaged by flood waters resulting from Hurricane Harvey. Those volunteers are cleaning up, removing flood damaged sheetrock and materials plus treating the property for mold. If you or someone you know needs help, they want to hear from you. All of these services are free. If you need assistance with a flood damaged home or you would like to volunteer to help others, please call 936-256-3415 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
Tony Munson Invitational: More than 1,000 cross country runners are signed up for this Saturday’s 34th Annual Tony Munson Invitational in Liberty Municipal Park. Liberty Cross Country Coach Joe Roberts said volunteers are needed to help with the annual event. Liberty’s Tony Munson Invitational starts at 8 a.m. Saturday and continues until conclusion around noon. Anyone interested in volunteering is invited to show up at Liberty Municipal Park around 7 Saturday morning - just look for the big tent between the softball fields and the covered basketball pavilion.
UT & Texans: The UT Longhorns have a rare Thursday night football game this week. They are on the road tomorrow facing Iowa State. Pre-Game on FM 99.9 is 6 p.m. with kickoff at 7. Then, on Sunday, the Houston Texans host the Tennessee Titans at NRG Stadium. Catch the Texans and the Titans on KSHN Radio starting with the noon kickoff immediately following our broadcast from First United Methodist Church in Liberty.
