We reported on an aggravated robbery at the Panther Stop on Highway 90 in Liberty back on December 9, 2012. At that time, Liberty police said a robber had entered the store demanding money and clubbed the business’ owner with a tire iron. The suspect fled in the store owner’s vehicle with an undisclosed amount of cash. Days later, police arrested two Liberty residents – Joseph Aldridge and Courtney Lynn August, now age 24. Both are charged with Aggravated Robbery. Jury selection began yesterday morning in the trial of Joseph Aldridge. Testimony is set to begin today at 9 a.m.
Tips Sought: Liberty County Sheriff’s Department is asking for the public’s help locating two burglars who stuck the Exxon gas station on Highway 90 in Raywood earlier this month. Sheriff’s Captain Ken DeFoor said that burglary occurred late Saturday, Sept. 9, or early Sunday morning, Sept. 10. The crooks reportedly stole lottery tickets and cigarettes. One of the suspects is described as a white male wearing a gray colored “hoodie” type sweatshirt, a black baseball cap and blue jeans. The second thief was a white male wearing a short sleeve gray colored T-shirt, shorts and a black and white colored baseball cap. Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff's office at 936-336-4500 or Multi-County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-392-7867.
