Bullying: As students return to school, it’s a good time to talk with your kids about bullying. Liberty Police Chief Thomas Claunch said - although bullying was once considered a rite of passage - parents, educators and community leaders now see bullying as a devastating form of abuse that can have long-term affects on youthful victims. Those include the loss of self-esteem, isolation from peers, health problems and even suicide. A recent study reports that one-third of youth are bullied at least once a month. Chief Claunch emphasizes the importance of parents setting a good example and teaching their children that bullying is never acceptable and should never be tolerated.
