Sex Assault Trial: 46-year-old James Ray Haggard has been sentenced to a lengthy prison term after being found guilty of Sexual Assault of a Child and Indecency with a Child. A jury in the 75th District Court of Judge Mark Morefield began hearing testimony Monday. Then, Wednesday afternoon, the jury found Haggard guilty on both charges. Yesterday morning, Judge Morefield sentenced James Haggard to 25 years in prison for Sexual Assault of a Child plus another 25 years for Indecency with a Child. The judge ordered those sentences to run consecutively. That means Haggard must complete one sentence before beginning the other. So, he must serve a minimum of 25 years in TDCJ before the possibility of parole.
