Property Values: The Liberty County Central Appraisal District has released its 2017 Certified Taxable Property Values. According to Chief Appraiser Lana McCarty, the total taxable value for all properties countywide is $5.62 billion. That’s up 8.55% from last year. Land values are up 15.86% in Liberty County while improvements increased 7.88%. Mineral values rose 14.14% countywide while industrial values rose 5.86%. On the other hand, personal property values dropped 18.42%.
Liberty Projects: Liberty City Council heard a presentation last Tuesday from H.R. Green Engineering on the city’s planned Wastewater Rehabilitation Project Phase 1. The extensive sanitary sewer construction plan would involve replacement of some 56 manholes plus major sewer line improvements. The project also would include improvements or replacement of the city’s lift stations on the Hwy 146 Bypass, Beaumont Avenue and McGuire Road. Also included in the project is replacement of outfall lines at the City of Liberty Wastewater Treatment Plant. This was an informational item, and Liberty City Council took no action. Construction bids are expected in August or September, with construction planned to begin in November.

It’s at 10 a.m. in the Parish Hall at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Liberty. Those who attend are asked to have the names and birth dates for themselves as well as their parents and grandparents. Panther Tickets: Season tickets for Liberty’s five 2017 varsity home football games go on sale Monday, August 7, at the LISD admin building, 1600 Grand Ave. Those reserved season ticket seats will be available until noon September 1. All reserved seats not sold by that time will be released for sale at the gate of Memorial Stadium. A season ticket is good for one seat at each of Liberty’s home games. That five-game package costs $25.
