Burglary Arrests: Two Liberty residents, a Dayton man and one teen from Crosby have been arrested in Montgomery County for multiple vehicle burglaries this past Thursday night. According to the Roman Forest Police Department, the four were allegedly found in possession of many stolen items, including a firearm and a credit card reader. Charged with three vehicle burglaries plus Theft of a Firearm are 20-year-old Joshua Charles of Dayton, 18-year-old Jude Garcia of Liberty, 17-year-old Jerrett Riggs of Liberty and 17-year-old Clayton Yates of Crosby. Bail was set for the four suspects at $35,000 each.

Annual Fireworks Today: The City of Liberty’s Annual Independence Day Celebration is this evening in Liberty Municipal Park. It begins at 6 p.m. with activities for the kids. While admission to the event is free, the Liberty Youth Sports All-Star Teams will be selling food, drinks and glow-in-the dark necklaces as a fundraiser. At 7 tonight there will be live music from Timothy Wayne and the Abbot Creek Band. Then at 9 p.m. emcee Liberty Mayor Carl Pickett will welcome those attending and have brief remarks. Next will be the pledge of allegiance to the American and Texas flags. Then, around 9:15 tonight comes the big fireworks display. This year’s display is presented by the Pyrotechnico Company. Once again, KSHN radio will broadcast musical accompaniment for the fireworks extravaganza.

Dayton: Today is the first day on the job for the new Dayton City Manager. Theo Melancon, 32, takes the reins as Dayton’s new top administrator after serving most recently as city manager for the City of Gladewater since Feb. 2016. DPD: The Dayton Police Department has set the dates for their big move from the current police station to the newly built Police, Fire and Municipal Court Complex on S.H. 321. That roughly $9 million facility is complete. Dayton Police Chief John Headrick said relocating all communications and computer systems along with the Dayton PD’s other equipment will be a huge undertaking. That move is set for next Monday thru Wednesday, July 10-12. The Dayton VFD will announce their move soon.
