Trophies Discarded: For roughly the last 20 years, the Liberty County 4-H Mounted Drill Team has come to represent excellence by local youth. Under the direction of Drill Master Tommy Small, the local drill team has racked up state championship wins year after year and competed on the national level as well. Now, the record of that excellence, made up of trophies, plaques and banners are gone. Liberty County 4-H Drill Master Tommy Small said he had permission from the corporate headquarters of the Boot Barn Clothing chain to display the drill team’s awards in a display case at the Liberty store. When he went into Boot Barn last Sunday Mr. Small said he received a shock. All of the numerous awards were gone, tossed in the trash by the store manager. Tommy Small said Boot Barns corporate leaders have promised to do whatever is necessary to reproduce those trophies and awards that were thrown away over a month ago. Some can be reconstructed, while others cannot. The name of the store manager was not available nor was her employment status. She is not thought to still be working in Liberty.
