Remains Found: The Liberty County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the discovery of human remains in a wooded area of northwest Liberty County. According to information from Sheriff’s Captain Ken DeFoor, those remains were reported Tuesday morning in the 1400 block of CR 3737. Captain DeFoor said the remains appear to be that of a white male. However, he said due to the advanced stage of decomposition, it was not possible to confirm the identity of the person or if foul play was involved. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Liberty County Sheriff’s Department at 936-336-4500.

Graduation: Friday, Hull-Daisetta graduation is at 8 p.m. at Bobcat Stadium, Hardin graduation is at 8 p.m. at Hornet Stadium. In the event of bad weather, Hardin’s graduation ceremony moves to the TVE Arena. Then Hardin Jefferson graduation is also Friday, 7 p.m. at the Beaumont Civic Center. Two Chambers County high schools also have graduation Friday. East Chambers High at 7 p.m. in their high school gym and Barbers Hill High at 8 p.m. at Eagle Stadium. Saturday graduation ceremonies are set for Liberty, 8 p.m. at Memorial Stadium and Dayton at 3 p.m. at Lamar University’s Montaigne Event Center. Tarkington High School graduation is also on Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Livingston High School Gym. Anahuac’s graduation is at 6 p.m. Saturday, at White’s Park.

Drum Corp: Four members of the Liberty High School Band’s Colorguard have been selected to march with the prestigious Guardians Drum and Bugle Corps this summer. Those local students are TaNia Donatto, Alyssa Grubbs, Olivia Buddington and Cintia Martinez. Liberty Band Director Bob Smith said this is a great opportunity for these four young ladies. To participate in the Guardians Drum and Bugle Corps, the four Liberty students must raise funds to help pay for the experience. A GoFundMe page has been set up to raise support.
