DPS Hurricane Prep: In advance of the 2017 hurricane season, the Texas Department of Public Safety is urging Texans to begin making plans to protect themselves and their families. DPS Director Steven McCraw said early preparation can be the difference between life and death if hurricanes or severe weather occur. With that in mind, he urges area residents to get ready now for that possibility. Director McCraw said that includes assembling an emergency kit that contains essential documents, supplies and provisions. Review hurricane evacuation maps, and select a route for you and your family. Also, consider any special needs for individuals with disabilities or the elderly. The DPS director also said to stay informed about changing weather conditions in and around your area. Stay tuned to KSHN FM 99.9 for all the latest weather conditions and forecasts.

Cambridge: At their meeting on Tuesday May 9th, Liberty Mayor Carl Pickett informed Liberty Council the latest dispersal to the city from the Cambridge Project was roughly $1.5 million dollars. We have reported on the Cambridge Project, an electrical power wholesaling agreement involving the SRMPA and numerous other entities in Texas and Louisiana that has resulted in millions of dollars in revenue to the SRMPA in recent years. In fact, since its inception, the Cambridge Project has brought just over $15.5 million to the city of Liberty alone. The city has used the majority of that money to perform a massive upgrade in Liberty’s electrical power distribution system.
