Dayton Livestock Show: The 68th Annual Dayton FFA Livestock Show and Rodeo is Thursday through Saturday at the Anson Rigby Memorial Arena on Hwy 321 in Dayton. Livestock judging starts Thursday. One new addition this year is called the Unified Show. This event will get special-needs kids from Dayton ISD’s high school and junior high life-skills classes involved in livestock showmanship. That Unified Show is noon Thursday. There’s a rodeo Fun Night on Thursday with rodeo performances and judging in the queen’s competition Friday and Saturday. Mutton Bustin’ signups are Thursday through Saturday at 7 p.m. On Saturday, the Dayton Young Farmers Barbecue gets underway at 11 a.m. Then at 12:30 Saturday afternoon comes the Youth Livestock Auction. All Stars: Two Liberty High School senior athletes have been honored by the Southeast Texas Coaches Association in their respective sports. LHS volleyball standout Trenecia LeFleur has been invited to play in the SETCA All-Star game June 9 at East Chambers HS in Winnie. Liberty’s softball star Madisyn Frazier was picked for the All-Star game June 8 at Lamar University.
Golf Tourney: The 64th Annual Magnolia Ridge Country Club golf tournament is Thursday through Sunday. There are a few slots still open for golfers. Also, $75 sponsor tickets are available. Chamber Luncheon: The Liberty-Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce’s monthly noon luncheon is Wednesday in the Liberty Center at City Hall. This month’s guest speaker is Liberty County Judge Jay Knight. His topic is the State of the County. The $10 luncheon will be catered by Novrozsky’s. For reservations to Wednesday’s noon luncheon, call the Liberty-Dayton Area Chamber during business hours at 936-336-5736.
