BH Bond: Barbers Hill ISD voters overwhelming approved a $120 million bond package last Saturday. Barbers Hill School Superintendent Dr. Greg Poole said that tremendous support is a positive reflection of the community’s commitment to education. Barbers Hill ISD’s top administrator said this bond package will allow the district to address the anticipated continued growth in coming years. Dr. Poole said Barbers Hill ISD will be able to address the district’s needs without raising the current tax rate of $1.33 per $100 in property valuation.
Durable Power of Attorney: Pi-Yi Mayo is a Baytown Attorney, Board Certified in what is known as Elder Law, he specializes in estate planning and other legal issues affecting the elderly. On a recent visit to the KSHN Party Line program, Mr. Mayo said having a Durable Power of Attorney in place makes a huge difference when a loved one becomes disabled. He said the Durable Power of Attorney designates someone to make decisions about the disabled loved one’s finances and other issues when that loved one is no longer able to do that for themselves. Mr. Mayo said every adult should have a Durable Power of Attorney but especially those in their 50s and 60s.
Blowers: At their meeting Tuesday, the Liberty City Council approved a bid from a company called Gardener, Dennis and Nash for the purchase of what is called blowers for the city’s wastewater treatment plant. Two will cost $195,240. Each of the blowers is approximately 6 feet long, 5 feet wide and 4 feet across. Liberty Council accepted a separate bid for installation. Houston based C-3 Construction will install these new blowers. That bid was for $65,500.
Bull Riding: The 3rd Annual Veterans Extreme Bull Riding benefitting the Liberty VFW Post is this Saturday at the Trinity Valley Exposition Fairgrounds.
