School Board and City: Here are unofficial election results for Saturday’s voting in some local school and city council races. Unofficially, in the LISD Position #5 race, Liberty ISD voters cast 214 votes for D-Ann Berry and 118 for Daniel Balch. Meanwhile, the city of Ames had two races on their ballot. The race for Ames Mayor ended unofficially with 101 votes for Incumbent John White and 37 for challenger Emmit O’Donald Albro. Also, Position #1 Ames Council Incumbent David Papillion earned 84 votes with 45 for his opponent Veronica Williams Mallet. Moving on to the Dayton School Board Election, unofficial results for DISD Postion #4 have Josh Day with 492 to Adam Piserelle with 345 votes. In the three- way race for DISD Trustee Position #7 Kerri Bartee comes in first with 425 votes. Barry Pruitt received 341 votes and Lisa Rayburn Butcher got 78 in that school board race.

Local Option JP #3: Unofficial results are in for the Liberty County Local Option Election to allow for the sale of all alcoholic beverages including mixed drinks within the unincorporated area of Liberty County JP Precinct #3. That measure unofficially passed in voting Saturday with 159 votes for it and 76 votes against it. As reported the measure’s passage does not affect the city of Hardin’s alcohol sales ordinance at all. These results are unofficial until canvassed.

Community Room Expansion: We reported some time back on work planned to enlarge the Trinity Valley Exposition Community Room out at the fairgrounds. The growing popularity of the community room not just for TVE events but for outside venues as well prompted the TVE Board of Directors to approve the expansion work. Now another 25 feet is being added by taking another 25 feet from the TVE Pavilion floor, that space will be added back at the north end of the pavilion. TVE Board President Phil Fitzgerald said once finished, the room should provide comfortable seating for around 300 people.

Bull Riding: The 3rd Annual Veterans Extreme Bull Riding benefitting the Liberty VFW Post is Saturday May 13th at the Trinity Valley Exposition Fairgrounds. Tickets are $15 at the gate.
