211 Registration: Hurricane season begins Thursday, June 1. That means the time to prepare for the possibility of a hurricane making landfall along the upper Texas gulf coast is now. Liberty County Emergency Management Coordinator Tom Branch said those needing help during an evacuation should register with the state now - not when a hurricane is in the gulf. Also, even if you registered in past years, you still need to re-signup again this year. Those who need help evacuating during a storm should register with the state by calling 2-1-1 or going online to what’s called the State of Texas Emergency Assistance Registry. You can access that state registration online site from the top of our homepage at
Park Upgrades: On a recent KSHN Party Line Program, Dayton Mayor Jeff Lambright said there is an ongoing effort to upgrade the city’s four public parks, that effort includes the new restroom facility at the Dayton Soccer Park on Sawmill Road. Dayton Mayor Jeff Lambright said they very much want to add a splash pad to one of the city’s parks as well as other new additions.
Day of Prayer: The 66th annual observance of National Day of Prayer is Thursday, and there are at least two events scheduled here in Liberty County to commemorate the day. One is at noon Thursday at the historic old City Hall on East Boothe Street in Cleveland. The other is also Thursday at noon and will be on the south side steps of the Liberty County Courthouse in Liberty.
Softball Playoffs: Both the Dayton Lady Broncos and Liberty Lady Panthers have made it into area softball playoffs. The Dayton Broncos take on Manvel in Manvel Friday night at 6 p.m. KSHN will broadcast that game. That is a one game only area playoff.
