Dayton City Council: Dayton City Council met Monday night and unanimously approved a resolution in support of the city’s application for funding through the Texas Department of Transportation’s “Transportation Alternative Set Aside Project”. The state grant funding, if approved, would provide money to install six-foot-wide sidewalks and bike trails from Dayton High School on S.H. 321 all the way to FM 1960. Officials say that sidewalk would create a safer environment for students who walk along highway 321 to and from DHS. The resolution Dayton council members passed Monday essentially established the city’s intent to provide the required matching funds for the grant. Dayton City Planner Kimberly Judge said the city’s match for the construction grant would be 20% of the total grant plus 15% of administrative costs.
