Jubilee: One part of the Liberty Jubilee family festival that is always is a hit, is the live musical entertainment on the Travis Street stage. For the past several years, the Jubilee Street Dance has featured some big name performers. This year it’s Country Music Recording Artist Tracy Byrd. He will be on the Travis Street Stage between the Liberty County Courthouse and Liberty City Hall Friday night. Admission to the Jubilee and street dance is all free. Saturday’s live entertainment starts with local country band Southern Breeze, then, Rah-Rah & the Zydeco All Stars, followed by the Bayou Boys with Star Flight Rocks wrapping up the live Saturday entertainment. Announcement of the BBQ winners wraps up the events on stage.
GRACE: The GRACE Initiative of South Liberty County community volunteer group is now delivering hot meals daily to around 54 homebound seniors, Monday through Friday of each week. Grace Initiative Coordinator Glenda Hardin said if the Trump Administration’s proposed federal budget cuts get congressional approval, then it is possible the Grace Initiative is one of many programs that would be affected. Drones: US Congressman for the 36th Texas District, Brian Babin, recently made a tour through his district which includes Liberty County. A member of the transportation / infrastructure committee, Congressman Babin said this bipartisan group has recently worked to add an area above chemical plants as being protected from unauthorized drones, namely the petrochemical plants that abound in southeast Texas.
Cornerstone Ceremony: The Masonic Grand Lodge of Texas will level a dedication stone for the new Hardin ISD Elementary School this Friday at 10 a.m. The school is located at 11285 Highway 146 in Hardin. This event is hosted by the Liberty Masonic Lodge. There will also be an open house from 1-5 p.m. to allow for a tour of the new campus. The public is invited.
