Candidates: The City of Hardin, the City of Daisetta and the Hull Daisetta School District, if they choose, can all three cancel their elections scheduled for May 6th since there are no contested races. That includes the office of Hardin mayor and Hardin Council Positions #1 and #5. Incumbent Hardin Mayor Stephanie Blume is alone in seeking re-election. Position #5 Hardin council member Julie Terry did not file for a new term. David Meadows is the sole candidate for that Position. There is one contested school trustee position in the Hardin ISD. Charlotte Warner was appointed in March of last year to serve the one year remaining on Alan Tidwell’s elected term at postion #6. Charlotte Warner did not file for a full term. The two candidates for Hardin School Board Position #6 are Elaine Tidwell, and Micah Richardson.

Hall of Fame: The Dayton Sports Hall of Fame museum will pay tribute to outstanding Dayton ISD athletes and sports figures throughout the roughly 100 year history of Dayton Sports. Dayton School Trustee Larry Wadzeck said they are actively seeking information on these sports greats, especially for those from decades back that may not have received coverage of their achievements. The first induction ceremony for the Dayton Sports Hall of Fame will be on June 6th at the new Dayton ISD Auditorium at Dayton High School. Lady Panthers: Five members of the Liberty Lady Panthers power-lifting team have qualified for the Class 4A Regionals in their respective weight classes. Those Lady Panthers are Bronwyn Culton, Lark Walker, Breanna Drummond, Mariah Bunfill and Hannah Hill. The Regional power-lifting meet will be held Thursday, March 2, at Edna High School.

Anahuac: The Anahuac Area Chamber of Commerce will hold its annual awards banquet on Thursday, March 2, at White’s Park. A social and silent auction begins at 6 p.m. with dinner starting at 6:30. Tickets are $40 per person with tables of eight available for $320. Tickets are available in advance at the Chamber office and will not be sold at the door.
