Wreck: Dayton High School Assistant Band Director Jonathan Gaedchens was injured in an early morning wreck yesterday on FM 563 south of Liberty. Family members say he suffered head injuries as well as a broken arm, but is expected to recover. The wreck is being investigated by DPS Trooper Nathanial Godfrey.

Basketball Area Round: The Barbers Hill and Cleveland girls’ basketball teams have advanced to the Area round of the state playoffs. Both teams are in action tonight at neutral sites. The Lady Eagles face the Fort Bend Elkins Lady Knights at 6 p.m. today in Houston ISD’s Delmar Field House. The Cleveland Lady Indians take on the Huntington Lady Red Devils in Area competition at 6 p.m. in the Livingston High School gym.

Teen Dating Violence: Meagan Croker, a forensic interviewer and educator with Bridgehaven Children’s Advocacy Center that serves both Liberty and Chambers counties, encourages others to educate their children and themselves about dating violence involving teens. Bridgehaven offers a variety of presentations to organizations, including churches, schools and civic groups. Topics include teen dating violence, child abuse, prevention, recognizing and reporting abuse, plus bullying.
