Missing Person: The Liberty City Police Department is asking for the public’s help in locating a missing person, Benjamin “Wes” Cornell, age 37 of Liberty was last seen around 1 p.m. Sunday January 29th. He was reportedly going to the Trinity River. Police say Mr. Cornell does have some disabilities that raise concerns. Wes Cornell is described as a white male, 5 feet 4 inches tall, approximately 180 pounds, blue eyes, brown hair. Anyone with information is asked to call 936-336-5666.
Fiery Wreck: A fiery crash on the S.H. 105 bypass at the FM 1010 overpass in Cleveland claimed the life of the driver of one vehicle. Cleveland Police Captain Scott Felts said an 18-wheel, tractor-trailer was westbound on the bypass when an eastbound pickup truck apparently swerved into the 18-wheeler’s path resulting in a head-on collision. The pickup truck reportedly caught fire and burned. Flames also damaged the tractor-trailer rig. Police say the driver of the pickup truck was believed to have been killed upon impact. JP Pct. 6 Ralph Fuller ordered an autopsy. Police are not releasing the name of the deceased driver while they are waiting on DNA results to confirm the individual’s identity. The wreck occurred over the weekend.
Bridgehaven Auction: Bridgehaven Children’s Advocacy Center’s Eighth Annual Radio Auction on KSHN is this Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. and again Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon. The group’s volunteers will be on FM 99.9 describing, on the air, a variety of items and services to bid on by telephone. DISD Wall of Fame: Just one day remains for this year’s nominations for the Dayton ISD “Wall of Fame”. Tomorrow is the deadline for nominating a former professional employee of the Dayton school district for that honor. Established in 1999, the “Wall of Fame” salutes special educators who have contributed mightily to the education of youth in the district. Nomination forms are available on the district’s website, at all Dayton school campus offices and at the DISD administration building. For information, call 936-258-2667.
