Dayton Chamber: The Dayton Chamber held its 16th annual banquet Friday night. Joan Jones was honored as Dayton Noon Lions Club Member of 2016 while Dr. Jessica Johnson was recognized as Rotarian of the Year. Jack Terry was named EMT of the Year while Dayton Firefighter of 2016 is Austin Whisman. Cpl. Eric Ibarra was honored as the top Dayton Police Officer of the Year. Recognized as Dayton Chamber Ambassador was Sarah Fletcher. Retail Business of 2016 went to Marsala’s Italian Grill, and Sterling Funeral Home was honored as Service Business of the Year. The Dayton Chamber also recognized James Gracy as Senior Volunteer of the Year. Volunteer of the Year honors went to Caroline Wadzeck.

Elections: Signups are under way now through February 17 for those interested in running for a position on an area school board, city council or the hospital district board in the May 6 elections. Anyone interested should check with the respective administrative office weekdays during business hours.

Liberty-Dayton Chamber: Tickets are on sale for the 41st Annual Liberty-Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce Awards Banquet set for Tuesday, Feb. 28, at 6:30 p.m. in the Dayton Community Center. It’s an evening of good food, entertainment and the announcement of both Liberty and Dayton Citizens of the Year. This year’s entertainment was a big hit at last year’s event, so TV and internet personality Chad Prather returns again. For tickets or information, call the Liberty-Dayton Area Chamber at 336-5736 in Liberty or 257-8926 in Dayton.

Project Graduation Fundraiser: Whataburger in Liberty will be donating 25 percent of all sales tomorrow between 6 and 8 p.m. to Liberty High School’s Project Graduation. The LHS senior class will receive credit for all sales from every customer, whether they drive-thru or dine-in. There will also be drawings for gift cards and Whataburger merchandise. The money raised will go toward LHS Project Graduation, which provides a fun and safe atmosphere for the senior class graduation night.
