Lucas Lowe: The Liberty County community, along with people from across southeast Texas, turned out yesterday afternoon to show their respect for fallen Texas Air National Guard helicopter pilot Chief Warrant Officer Lucas Lowe. American Flags surrounded North Main Baptist Church in Liberty, continued up Hwy 146 to Hardin, and then onto Batson and his final resting place in the Guedry Cemetery. In Hardin, the Cleveland and Livingston FD used their ladder trucks stretched over Hwy 146 to suspend a large American Flag. Under the flag, the procession would pass. The caravan from the church to the gravesite was lined with citizens and officials as it stretched for miles - an estimated 300 vehicles long. Chief Warrant Officer Lucas Lowe died Wednesday, December 28, when his helicopter crashed just offshore in Galveston Bay. He leaves behind a wife with twins due any day and two older children as well as numerous other friends and family.
